Report 32 – Consultancy on Solar Cookers Training

Haitian Girls Building Solar Cookers

It is a great pleasure to send you the attached English version of the report by our Hinche-based colleague, Aline Innocent, on her recent consulting assignment with the Haiti Adolescent Girls Network (HAGN).

This one-week training program brought together 30 participants to learn about solar cooking and its role in promoting renewable energy, fighting deforestation, and reducing families’ dependence on charcoal for cooking.

As a focus of this, each participant learned how to and built a solar cooker herself.

Aline’s report and photos show a welcome and successful innovation. Many thanks to Myriam Narcisse, HAGN’s Executive Director, for bringing her team together for this. PPAF and HAGN have been friends for many years.

Thanks also to Jennifer Gasser, Mary Buchenic, Roger Haines, and Tom Hallquist, whose contributions are highlighted in the report.

Best wishes to all concerned!
